Make progress by not giving a crap!

I was picked on for the way I looked as a kid. Especially when you’re young, disliking the way your body looks because you don’t fit a certain ‘norm’ is crap, and can seriously mess with your head.

I‘m self-conscious and, at times, largely under confident. For years I struggled with this. But the older I get, the less I actually give a shit about the things I used to really dislike about myself.

I’m not saying I don’t still struggle occasionally, but I’m starting to give less of a shit about fitting into a certain box.

I believe this has now filtered down to my approach with health and fitness too. Not just with my own training, but also with my clients.

Life is tough. There are all these ‘things’ we’re supposed to do to, supposedly, be healthy and happy.

You’re supposed to get a safe job. You’re supposed to be good looking. You’re supposed to be funny. You’re supposed to be thin. You‘re supposed to avoid sugar. You‘re supposed to stay away from gluten. You can’t do this and you can’t do that and, in summary, it’s all a load of nonsense.

It’s time you stopped giving a crap too and you started doing this your way.

Put down the diet books and unfollow those ridiculous influencers that make you feel crap about yourself.

Whether it’s your career path, workout regime or dietary approach, there is no right or wrong way to do this.

All I can say is, please find a way that makes you happy. Are you happy right now? If you answered ‘no’, then change it. Or before you know it, you’ll be taking advice from the fruit loop Gwyneth Paltrow...and then where will you be?!
