Coaching should add value to your life
If your approach to exercise and nutrition start to dominate your life, something is going wrong.
My coaching is built on a simple belief: fitness should add value to your life, not consume it. That means we aim for progress that you can maintain, not a short burst of motivation followed by burnout, guilt or “starting again on Monday.”
So instead of chasing perfection, we focus on progress through sustainability, consistency and enjoyment.
You don’t need to earn food, you don’t need to punish yourself for missing a week, and you certainly don’t need to make your life smaller to feel “disciplined.”
We build routines that are realistic even on your busiest weeks, because that’s what makes them last.
Cutting through fitness industry noise
The fitness industry is loud and a lot of it is designed to make you feel like you’re doing everything wrong.
One week it’s “never eat after 6pm.” Next week it’s tips to “detox your body.” Then it’s “this one exercise melts belly fat.”
Most people aren’t failing because they lack motivation. They’re overwhelmed by conflicting advice, unrealistic expectations and plans that were never designed for real life scenarios.
Part of my job as an online fitness coach is to simplify things and filter out the nonsense.
That means:
-
No extreme rules dressed up as “discipline”
-
No fear-mongering around normal body functions (carbs, insulin, hunger, rest days…)
-
No overcomplicated plans you can’t maintain
-
No “all-or-nothing” thinking
I’m not here to give you more noise. I’m here to help you build a clear approach that you can trust.
A holistic approach to coaching
Training and nutrition don’t happen independently.
Your week is affected by work stress, sleep, travel, family life, mental load, energy levels, confidence and your past experiences with food and exercise. If we ignore those things, the plan will soon fall apart.
That’s why my coaching is holistic. We look at:
Lifestyle and schedule
Sleep and energy
Stress and recovery
Behaviour patterns and barriers
Your relationship with food, exercise and your body
I’m also a qualified occupational therapist, which heavily influences how I coach. Every aspect of your life will be taken into consideration when we design your exercise and nutrition plans.
Coaching isn’t just workouts and calories. It’s problem solving, habit-building and making progress feel doable.

Coaching that builds independence
I’m not interested in creating dependency.
My goal isn’t for you to need me forever. My goal is for you to feel confident making decisions without second-guessing everything.
I’m an exercise and nutrition nerd at heart, so i will teach you how to manage your own health behaviours.
That means we work on:
-
Understanding the “why” behind your training
-
Building skill and confidence with movement
-
Learning how to adjust when life changes
-
Developing a healthier relationship with food (without rigid rules)
-
Creating routines you can follow long-term
If you leave coaching feeling more capable, more informed and more relaxed around fitness and food… that’s a win.
Who my coaching style suits best
My coaching style tends to work best for people who want structure without pressure.
It’s a great fit if you:

Feel tired of dieting, extremes or yo-yo cycles
Want to get stronger and feel better without obsessing
Are busy and need a plan that fits around life
Prefer a calm, non-judgemental approach
If you’re looking for extremes, rigid rules, or shortcuts, this probably isn’t for you.
If you want clarity, support, and a grounded approach… you’re in the right place!

Education, not just coaching
Coaching doesn’t stop at programmes.

I believe people deserve to understand their bodies, their training and their nutrition, not just follow instructions blindly. That’s why education is a core part of how I work.

I also host the How To: Fitness podcast, where I break down common myths, explore the evidence behind popular fitness trends and have honest conversations about our health (without the hype).

“I can't recommend Michael Ulloa enough! He was such a great trainer to work with, even on my crummiest days he'd get me laughing and being more kind to myself. I learned a tremendous amount from him over the 8 months we worked together, both about exercise and nutrition (protein!). His integrative app was easy to work with, and his take on the diet industry is next level. Count yourself lucky if you are able to work with him!; professional, patient, genuine.”
Kim C
“I worked with Michael during six months and cannot recommend him enough. He provided me with so much knowledge, content and nutrition advice, always working together on my goals and setting a enjoyable variety of work outs, with regular calls every week. I would definitely work with Michael again!”

He’s exactly what I needed at a very difficult time in my life. Infectious enthusiasm, total confidentiality and unwavering support, Michael’s knowledge transforms not just bodies, but lives.
