MICHAEL ULLOA FITNESS + NUTRITION

HYROX training & coaching

HYROX training should improve your performance without completely taking over your life.

My approach to HYROX coaching combines structured running, strength and conditioning, recovery and realistic nutrition support to help you perform better sustainably, without burnout, extreme training or all-or-nothing thinking.

Whether you are preparing for your first HYROX event or trying to improve your race performance, the goal is long-term progress, confidence and building fitness in a way that actually fits around real life.

What HYROX coaching with me actually means

HYROX is a unique challenge because it demands a balance of endurance, strength, pacing, recovery and resilience. It is not just about being strong in the gym or good at running. It is about learning how to combine both effectively while recovering well enough to stay consistent.

A lot of people training for HYROX fall into the trap of doing too much too soon. Endless conditioning sessions. Constant high-intensity training. Under-fuelling. Ignoring recovery. Trying to “outwork” poor programming.

That approach might work temporarily, but it is also one of the fastest routes to burnout, injury and losing enjoyment in your training altogether.

My approach to HYROX coaching is different.

I focus on helping people improve performance through intelligent, sustainable training that balances running performance, strength and conditioning, recovery and nutrition in a way that works long term.

That means:

  • Structured progression rather than random hard workouts

  • Realistic programming around work, family and life

  • Improving performance without fitness becoming your entire identity

  • Learning how to recover properly rather than constantly pushing harder

  • Fuelling training appropriately instead of fearing food

  • Building consistency over time rather than relying on motivation

HYROX training should challenge you, but it should also be sustainable enough that you can continue progressing without constantly feeling exhausted.

As both an online coach and someone with a background in occupational therapy, I take a more holistic approach to performance. Your training plan should support your health, recovery and lifestyle, not work against them.

Education, not just coaching

Coaching doesn’t stop at programmes.

I believe people deserve to understand their bodies, their training and their nutrition, not just follow instructions blindly. That’s why education is a core part of how I work.

I also host the How To: Fitness podcast, where I break down common myths, explore the evidence behind popular fitness trends and have honest conversations about our health (without the hype).

“I can't recommend Michael Ulloa enough! He was such a great trainer to work with, even on my crummiest days he'd get me laughing and being more kind to myself. I learned a tremendous amount from him over the 8 months we worked together, both about exercise and nutrition (protein!). His integrative app was easy to work with, and his take on the diet industry is next level. Count yourself lucky if you are able to work with him!; professional, patient, genuine.”

Kim C

“I worked with Michael during six months and cannot recommend him enough. He provided me with so much knowledge, content and nutrition advice, always working together on my goals and setting a enjoyable variety of work outs, with regular calls every week. I would definitely work with Michael again!”

Ismael, C

"A maverick in the fitness world, Michael’s personalised approach adapts to your unique needs, pushing you to surpass limits you never knew existed. He’s exactly what I needed at a very difficult time in my life. Infectious enthusiasm, total confidentiality and unwavering support, Michael’s knowledge transforms not just bodies, but lives. With a perfect blend of science-backed methods and intuitive understanding, he redefined what was possible for me. He’s more than a trainer and I cannot recommend him enough."
